Spite: A Dragon's Wake

In ancient lands, a mountain stands peacefully. One day, The Water Dragon of the ocean grew greedy, wanting to rule the lands as well. She climbed the mountain, promising the people of the land great fortune and luck, if they let her pass. 

The people believed the dragon and let her take the mountain. However, The Water Dragon's promise came at a cost. She forced the people to offer their riches, and turned those who refused or couldn’t pay into mindless fish monsters, her own puppets. The people, now desperate to please their new dragon, scavenging their last meals to offering altars, ultimately await their fate as their last treasure runs out. 

The Monk, who lives outside the village and has seen his people's demise caused by the Water Dragon, could not sit idly by. In order to liberate them, the monk has to go out on a quest to find out the truth about the new dragon and her reason for bringing evil to the lands. 

On the Monk's journey, when freeing the souls of his people stuck in fish monster bodies, he gains part of their spirit, leading to his own enlightenment. He transcends from mortality and becomes “god”-like", thanks to the joined will of the people. His new-found powers let him free their souls, and with luck, eventually meet the Water Dragon at the mountian's summit.
